About the All Points Camping Club

Est. December 2015 the

All Points Camping Club of NZ

has been developed as a national support organisation for all campers in NZ to ensure

Kiwi's continue to enjoy this healthy,

recreational activity across the country.

Get the Points

  • North, South, East or West we are there for you.

  • A unified voice for ALL NZ campers

  • Inclusive - All types of campers are welcome

        - Bring the family, or tent. Bring an open heart

  • Friendly Advice and support

  • Building friendships

  • Regional groups

  • Member events

  • Savings and discounts

  • Lobbying for campers rights

We often get asked if the All Points Camping Club has properties for members to park overnight at.

As the club has only been operating for 6 years our  members funds do not yet enable us to own or lease properties.

APCNZ prefers to support and promote existing property owners, campgrounds and council / DoC reserves. It is important that those who provide facilities for campers are supported.

You can view or add to our growing list of recommended  StopandStay properties here.

Update from our AGM

The All Points Camping Club AGM was held in three locations and via Zoom on Saturday 4 May.  It was great to see members from around the country joining in and sharing their views.

One of the main purposes of our AGM (or Annual General Meeting) is to determine the National Committee for the next year. This year we welcome two new committee members – Helen Garthwaite from Wellington and Trevor McIntyre from Canterbury.

The committee for 2024/25 is:

Executive committee

  • President – Wayne Ravelich

  • Vice President – Margaret Earle

  • Past President – Gary Stoneley

  • Secretary – Angela Bryan

  • Treasurer – Rhonda Marshall

General committee

  • Martin Ireland

  • Jo Ravelich

  • Vicky Holden

  • Helen Garthwaite

  • Trevor McIntyre

The AGM also confirmed the Club’s regional representatives.

  • Northern – Vicky Holden

  • Waikato – Lorraine Middleton

  • Bay of Plenty – Ian Read

  • Taranaki – Denise Rowland

  • Central – Jo Ravelich, Margaret Earle, Helen                      Garthwaite

  • Marlborough – Marty & Diana Ireland

  • Canterbury – Linda Butler

  • West Coast – Verity Kennedy & Andrew McRoberts

  • Otago – Julian Fuchs

Join us at an autumn or winter event

In the colder months camping can be a bit more challenging. However, our regional representatives are still planning some local events. These include mid-winter meals as well as camping opportunities. Our autumn camping events include the Featherston Booktown weekend, a Viking Odessy in Norsewood and monthly camps in various locations across the Canterbury region.

Our camps are a great opportunity to stay at new camping locations and to meet others with a passion for camping. If you haven’t had much experience with camping, they are also a good way to learn. Have a look at the details on our events page. We’d love you to join us at these events.

From your support team,

All Points Camping Club of NZ (Inc)

The Autumn issue of our quarterly magazine, Camping the Kiwi Way, is a bumper edition. It has great stories about camping adventures from New Zealanders of all ages.

Q. How do I Join APCNZ ?

A. The quickest and easiest way to join the club is through the Shop page at www.apcnz.org/shop.

This gives you various methods of payment to choose from. Membership costs $30.00 per year (plus $5.00  postage /shipping 1st year)

Q. Do I have to be self contained?

A. No! We welcome all campers.

- While we encourage self containment, all campers from tenters through to motorhomers are welcome. Wherever possible we host inclusive events at suitable venues so everyone can attend.

"It was by chance I discovered the All Points Camping Club after going around in circles in an attempt to get my little van certified for self-containment.  I was astonished at how helpful and friendly everyone I have dealt with has been.  The fees are extraordinarily inexpensive and such value for money too,"

                                            W, Manawatu

Note: Having a Certified Self Contained Vehicle does not make you a responsible camper, but it can make it easier.

Many local and regional authorities now expect many motorhomes, caravans and campervans to be certified as self contained in order to stay at reserves and designated freedom camping areas.

Your vehicle must have been suitably and correctly set up for self containment and meet the requirement of the NZ Standard.

NZS5465:2001 incl. amendment 2.

In general the vehicle must be fit for habitation. It must be able to meet the fresh water, waste and ablutionary needs of the occupants for a minimum period of three  (3) days. The waste system must be suitably sealed. The toilet must be able to be used in the vehicle when required having  sufficient head and shoulder room (with the beds made up).

NZ Lifestyle Camping in conjunction with and our team of suitably qualified testing officers can help you with this.

Amendments to the Freedom Camping Act, effective from 7 June 2023. Accordingly a 'new' full, self-containment certificate allowing you to full access to camp in local authority free camping areas requires a fixed / cassette toilet, not a portable toilet.

A limited self-containment certificate can still be issued with portable toilets but has greater restrictions on where you can stay on council controlled land, dependent on council bylaws and policies. A limited self-containment certificate will still allow you to stay at private park over or Stop and Stay properties or other host properties and council reserve land where all campers are welcome.
